Mudgee, NSW

Mudgee is a beautiful wine growing region in New South Wales, Australia. Only a few hours drive from Sydney, it is a wine tasters dream.

The Mudgee Region has been a wine producing area almost since its foundations way back in the 1850s. In fact Australia's chardonnay history can be traced back to the Kurtz's Eurunderee vineyard in teh Mudgee region.

Among the first families in the Mudgee region were the Roth, Kurtz and Bucholtz families who still have decendants in the area.

The Mudgee Wine Festival

This fantastic event is held every September in Mudgee and the surrounding vineyards. With over 50 vineyards in the Mudgee region, there certainly isn't any problem finding a heap of great wines to try out!

It's also a fantastic time for fine food lovers as the local restaurants really put on a show. The food and wine flows very liberally and everyone has a ball!

If you need a place to stay, then you might be surprised to find out that there are a lot of accommodation options in Mudgee. You can stay in the town and also a lot of the vineyards also have hotels or b&bs on site so you can actually stay in a beautiful local vineyard!
